Campbell Distillers, owner of the critically acclaimed single malts Aberlour and Edradour, asked Riedel to come up with a glass that would highlight the very special characteristics of single malt whisky.
And so, in early 1992, a panel of single malt experts was convened at Riedels headquarters in Austria to test a range of different glasses. On the basis of this first selection, Georg Riedel undertook further research with the help of master distillers in Scotland. The result is this glass: an elongated thistle shape on a truncated stem. The design incorporates a small, slightly out-turned lip that directs the spirit onto the tip of the tongue, where sweetness is perceived, and serves to bring out the elegant creaminess of a top-quality single malt.
In September 1992, a group of Britains leading single malt experts gathered in London to test the prototype. They agreed that the subtle aromas of the whisky were lost in a traditional tumbler; brandy balloons emphasised the alcohol at the expense of finesse; and the copita tended to magnify the oak components to such an extent that the whisky began to take on cognac-like characteristics.
The Riedel glass emerged as the clear winner, bringing forward the pure malt character of all the whiskies tasted by concentrating their aromas and accentuating their softness, roundness and silkiness.

Lisa Smith has been inspired by her many trips to the canyons of the southwest. Grand Canyon, Arches National Park, Bryce Canyon and others. These canyons are carved from water and wind. The coppery sand and desert flora are referenced by the copper and verdigris on the ripples and ridges of Nambe's new Copper Canyon Collection. Due to subtly varying verdigris (green patina), each piece is unique, a sculpture of contrasting color and texture. Measuring 4.5 inches wide and 7.5 inches high, this wine chiller exemplifies the collection's drama. Designer Lisa Smith scallops the rim in a symmetrical pattern, and emphasizes the scallops' rhythm with ridged, wave-like verdigris sloping down to the flat bottom. OXO is based on the concept of Universal Design. But what is Universal Design and how does it benefit users? In simplest terms, Universal Design means the design of products usable by as many people as possible. In the case of OXO, it means designing products for young and old, male and female, left- and right- handed and many with special needs.

Using magnets to treat fluids water, fuel, wine, etc. - is not a new idea, and the technology has been applied successfully in many industries. What causes the effect has been the subject of some debate, but it is generally thought that passing a conductive fluid through a properly designed magnetic field has an effect on the polar molecules in the fluid.

We started with a lovely shallow maple oval that would cradle a single baguette and we liked the look of it so much that we created two other sizes. Perfect for finger foods like crostini, olives, dolmas and stuffed mushrooms. The 2 smaller bowls stack inside the larger one. You wont be able to resist collecting all of them. Sold individually or as a set of three, in 8, 11, and 20 lengths.

How it works:
The Wine Clip uses principles of magnetics to improve the taste of wine as it is being poured out of the bottle. The effect is instantaneous, and has been found by many wine professionals to result in a genuine improvement in flavor and mouthfeel, especially when used on red wines.
Using magnets to treat fluids water, fuel, wine, etc. - is not a new idea, and the technology has been applied successfully in many industries.
