The automatic timer version has a timer switch on the side so that the grinder will automatically stop grinding. mazzer decided to no longer produce a manual on/off switch version because they feared their grinders may accidentally be left powered on all day - this is how quiet they run without beans.

Burr Grinding Wheels
The K2 burr grinder uses 50 mm wide heavy-duty burr grinding wheels to crush the coffee beans into uniform coffee grounds. This is better than a standard blade grinder or low-cost burr grinders that usually do not produce uniform grind sizes. Made of tempered steel, they will provide many years of reliable grinding. Consistent grind size is important to promote better taste and aroma. It is especially important if you are grinding coffee for an espresso machine that needs a fine and consistent grind.
Multiple Grind Settings
TThe K2 offers an infinite number of stepped grind settings. Simply hold the adjustment lever underneath the bean hopper, and turn the hopper to the desired setting.
